The Timeline of Medieval Warfare charts the development of tactics and strategies of battle from the Norman victory at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 to the siege and eventual conquest of Constantinople by the Ottomans in 1453. Examples of every type of medieval warfare are included, such as the mass cavalry encounter between Mongols and Hungarians at Leignitz (1241) to devastating employment of the longbow at the Battle of Crécy (1346) and Agincourt (1415), to the successful amphibious assault on Constantinople by crusaders in 1204. Sea battles are also included, such as Malta (1283) and Sluys (1340), as well as sieges, such as that at Chateau Gaillard (1203-4), the devastation of the crusaders by Saladin at Hattin (1187) and the use of wagons and gunpowder in the Hussite victory at Viktov in 1420. At the back of The Timeline of the Medieval Warfare is an eight-page, double-sided gatefold timeline, profiling key events through the period in a unique graphical representation, with cut-out images and colour keys under various themes and headings. The gatefold timeline forms a poster, which can be cut out.
